1. Don’t Panic!
Have you found yourself saying “I have put the wrong fuel in my car – what do I do?”. Well don’t worry, your certainly not the first person to put the wrong fuel in your car, and you certainly won’t be the last. Let us reassure you, it’s a VERY common mistake and our experienced technicians are very used to dealing with these scenarios. If you’ve filled up in a petrol station, they should be able to help you move your vehicle out the way (without starting it!), whilst you wait for a FuelTech technician to be reach you.
If you’re still worried, feel free to look at our FAQ page which provides questions and answers about fuel drains.
2. DON’T try starting your engine
It has been suggested that even the process of unlocking your car can trigger the fuel pump to suck in the wrong fuel as the vehicle gets ready to move. If you have started the engine and moved off make sure that you pull over and switch it off as soon as it’s safe to do so.
Our technicians work 24/7 so we will make sure that one of them is dispatched to you as quickly as possible.
If you have broken down and are causing an obstruction please make sure you inform one of the team and we will aim to prioritise your case.
3. Make a note of your location
Make a note of your location before giving one of the team a call. If you are unaware of your location, you can always use our “Find Me” tools available below to pinpoint your location so that our team can find you as quickly as possible.
4. Give us a call!
Our technicians are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so there will always be a professional available to assist you. FuelTech will aim to get you within an hour of your initial call and will deal with your wrong fuel mishap in a professional manor. Whether it’s diesel in a petrol engine, or petrol in a diesel engine – we’ve got you covered.
From experience if you call your roadside assistance team, or go to a local garage, you might find that the technicians are inexperienced and will be far more expensive than a FuelTech technician. Remember all of our technicians have SPA accreditation.
If you have taken your car to a garage and wish for an unbiased opinion about the fuel drain service which they offer, feel free to give one of our team a call and we can advise you on any pitfalls we have seen previously.
